Administrative records

The Academic Affairs: Academic Program Reviews (APRs) are comprised of internal self-study reports and external team reviews for JMU degree-granting departments, programs, and academic administrative areas. The collection contains both paper and digital files.

The Alumni Association Records, 1934-2015, consists of 4.29 cubic feet in 13 boxes. The collection primarily consists of the administrative files of the James Madison University Alumni Association, all referring to the individual graduated classes of JMU, Madison College, and the State Normal School.

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Records, Harrisonburg, Virginia Branch, 1929-2017, document the activities of Harrisonburg's local AAUW branch and include administrative records, financial files, publications, annual conference materials, scrapbooks, and photographs.

The Anthony-Seeger Campus School Records, 1956-1982, consist of three boxes containing administrative, historical, and personal materials relating to the school.

This collection covers the history of James Madison University's College of Integrated Science and Technology (CISAT), from its inception in the late 1980s to its realization across the 1990s and into the early 2000s.

The Common Ground Records, 1983-2003, consists of the newsletters, administrative files, and other material related to or published by the now-defunct Harrisonburg peace and justice organization Common Ground and its predecessors, The Network for Peace and Justice and Common Weal.

The collection comprises the administrative files, photographs, and scrapbooks documenting the Department of Living Sciences and affiliated student organizations (Frances Sale Club and Phi Omicron Tau) at James Madison University.

The Furious Flower Poetry Center Records, consisting of 17.6 cubic feet (43 boxes, 1 rolled storage container), document the departmental activities of the Furious Flower Poetry Center.

The Harrisonburg Historic Map Collection, 1873-1982 (bulk 1903-1956), consists of approximately 615 items including maps, blueprints, drawings, and corresponding paperwork created by the City of Harrisonburg. These items represent proposed road improvements, sewer and water lines, bridge plans, land exchanges, and sub-divisions added to the city. Some drawings for church buildings, schools, parks and industrial zones are included as well.

The Kappa Kappa Psi Records, 1958-2009 (bulk 1979-2009), contain organizational files of and pertaining to the Eta Omicron chapter of the band service fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi at James Madison University. In addition to these administrative files is a large collection of photographic and ephemeral material.

This collection of contains the administrative records for James Madison University Libraries and Educational Technologies (LET) from 1939-2016. In addition to administrative records, this collection also contains historical items relating to the history of the library.

The Marching Royal Dukes Records contain the organizational files pertaining to the operation of the JMU marching band from 1975-2016. In addition to these files, the records include ephemera, photographs, and audio-video recordings of and pertaining to the Marching Royal Dukes.

The Radical Roots Community Farm Collection, 2006-2008, is comprised of issues of the “Radical Roots Garden Journal” and brochures by the Radical Roots Community Farm in Keezletown, Virginia, as well as documents related to the founding of the Friendly City Food Co-op in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

The collection comprises administrative files, newsletters, meeting minutes, and scrapbooks documenting the activities of the Rockingham Bird Club.

The Ronald E. Carrier Papers comprise the administrative records of James Madison University's fourth president.

The Samuel P. Duke Papers, 1921-1971, comprise correspondence from, to, and concerning Madison College president Samuel P. Duke, as well as meeting minutes of the Executive Committee that served the college in his absence due to illness. Many documents relate to the change from the State Normal School for Women to the State Teachers College, and eventually, the change to Madison College.

The Sister Speak Records, 1998-2019, include administrative files related to Sister Speak, a feminist literary journal and organization at James Madison University, sponsored by JMU's Department of English.

This collection consists of photographs, memos, letters, pamphlets, maps, and other materials dating from 1917-1994 that relate to the George Washington National Forest, Dry River District. Most of the materials concern fire-fighting activities within the Forest, while others relate to the activities of the Civilian Conservation Corps and recreation within national forest lands.

The Virginia Music Educators Association Records, 1944-1996, comprise the administrative records pertaining to the operation and management of VMEA since its conception in 1945.

The Virginia Wilderness Committee Records, 1961-2009, comprise official records - administrative and financial records, newsletters, project and subject files - documenting the organization's activities and projects related to wilderness legislation, preservation, and protection in Virginia's national forests and other wild areas.

This collection contains correspondence, reports, photographs, business documents, financial statements, publications, and other documents that relate to the businesses of Charles Wampler Sr. (Wampler Feed and Seed Company) primarily and to a lesser degree his son, Charles Wampler Jr. (Wampler Food Incorporated). Correspondence comprises the bulk of the collection.
