Alpha Spitzer Travel Diary
The Alpha Spitzer Travel Diary, 1939, is comprised of one 3 ¾ x 5 ¾ inch spiral notebook chronicling Spitzer’s trip with her sister Margaret from Broadway, Virginia to Pueblo, Colorado and back during the summer of 1939. Both Spitzer sisters were alumni of Broadway High School and the State Teachers College at Harrisonburg.
Barbara White Tour Diary
The Barbara White Tour Diary, 1921-1922, is comprised of a 6 3/4 x 8 1/4 manuscript diary kept by White while traveling aboard the Cunard Liner RMS Albania to England, France, Switzerland, and Italy from 1921-1922. Also included are loose items from the diary and two telegrams.
Jean Foley Scrapbook
The Jean Foley Scrapbook, 1939-1940, contains photographs of downtown Harrisonburg and James Madison University, including the “Turkey Festival” and May Day celebrations, as well as travel photos documenting the experiences of State Normal School alum, Foley.
Strickler family papers
The Strickler Family Papers, 1887-1928, primarily comprise correspondence written by members of the Strickler family originally of Page County, Virginia who had relocated to Washington and Nevada. Reuben Thomas Strickler of Page County is the primary recipient of the correspondence. A travel diary documents a 1928 trip from New Market, Virginia to California and back.
