The Copp’s Schoolhouse Notebook and Ledger, 1867-1908, is comprised of one bound volume of notes on Dr. Benjamin Mosby Smith’s lectures; the constitution, by-laws, and meeting minutes of the Johnsonian Lyceum (meetings were held at Copp’s Schoolhouse in Maurertown, Virginia which was located in the Johnson Magisterial District); and unrelated personal property lists of Shenandoah County residents.

Harrisonburg-Rockingham Historical Society Collection
This collection consists of approximately 1,700 items, in six boxes and one flat folder, and covers the dates 1740-1950. The collection is comprised of a very wide variety of legal, governmental, business, school, and church records, as well as personal papers, all primarily from the Central Shenandoah Valley (Rockingham, Shenandoah, Augusta, and Page counties). Most are originals, but some facsimiles are included.

The bulk of the collection consists of letters, religious documents, and newspapers and advertisements published by the Henkel Press of New Market, Virginia. Jessie Stoutamyer diary
The Jessie Stoutamyer Diary, 1905, 1911, consists of one bound (hand-stitched) diary kept by 18-year-old Augusta County native, Jessie Jackson Stoutamyer. The diary spans January 1 through August 30, 1911, with a final entry chronicling her brother George’s death on October 11, 1911. Stoutamyer’s entries include her daily activities and family news. Also included is a separate sheet on which Stoutamyer transcribed “The Yellow Rose of Texas.”
John A. Frenger Diary and Account Book
The John A. Frenger Diary and Account Book, 1880-1892, consists of one ledger that contains periodic diary entries in which Frenger, a farmer from Greenville, Augusta County, documents the weather, his local travels, farm activities, and commentary on political events. The ledger also includes accounts of Frenger’s household and farm expenses and income.

The John L. Heatwole Collection of Shenandoah Valley History, 1802-1901, consists of three folders containing 102 items pertaining to Shenandoah Valley history. The collection is arranged topically into three folders: General Valley Documents, Page County Documents, and Recipes.
John T. Harris papers
The John T. Harris Papers, 1771-1937 (bulk 1850-1900), consist of a large number of personal and political documents relevant to the life and career of John T. Harris. The bulk of the collection is comprised of letters of John T. Harris and his family, and of Peyton Randolph and his family. Several letters discuss Southern secession and the American Civil War. Also included are Randolph family letters, James Clarkson Papers, Civil War documents and Harris genealogy.
Margaret Reed Collection
The collection consists of three items: a letter from Charles T. O'Ferrall to Mayme Clarke Robinson concerning the family history; a transcript of the aforesaid letter typed by Isabelle Robinson Reed, the daughter of Mayme Clarke Robinson; and a photo copy of Mayme Clarke Robinson's application to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
