Scrapbooks

The Anthony-Seeger Campus School Records, 1956-1982, consist of three boxes containing administrative, historical, and personal materials relating to the school.

The collection comprises the administrative files, photographs, and scrapbooks documenting the Department of Living Sciences and affiliated student organizations (Frances Sale Club and Phi Omicron Tau) at James Madison University.

The Freshman Class Scrapbooks are comprised of four disassembled scrapbooks, containing correspondence, programs, invitations, telegrams and ephemera that document class elections and campus activities of the Madison College freshman class, from 1945-1949.

The Harrisonburg Chapter of the Madison College Alumni Association Records is comprised of two meeting minute books; a scrapbook containing photographs, newspaper clippings and paper; and administrative papers that document the Alumni Association (formerly known as the Alumnae Association) from 1945-1964.

The Iris Alina Ruiz Williams Papers, 1939-1965, comprise photographs, drawings, a scrapbook, and a fencing foil from Williams’ time as a student at Madison College and as an alumna.

The Jean Foley Scrapbook, 1939-1940, contains photographs of downtown Harrisonburg and James Madison University, including the “Turkey Festival” and May Day celebrations, as well as travel photos documenting the experiences of State Normal School alum, Foley.

This collection comprises a record book, account book, original charter, minute books, scrapbooks, and papers that document the history of the Alpha Chi Chapter of the Kappa Delta Pi at the State Teachers College at Harrisonburg, from 1923-1986.

The Kappa Kappa Psi Records, 1958-2009 (bulk 1979-2009), contain organizational files of and pertaining to the Eta Omicron chapter of the band service fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi at James Madison University. In addition to these administrative files is a large collection of photographic and ephemeral material.

The Kathleen Neal Jones Scrapbook, 1953-1955, comprises one bound scrapbook documenting Neal's time as a student at Madison College.

This collection of contains the administrative records for James Madison University Libraries and Educational Technologies (LET) from 1939-2016. In addition to administrative records, this collection also contains historical items relating to the history of the library.

Consists of meeting minutes, correspondence, studies, grants, photographs, and scrapbooks documenting the creation and growth of the Department of Nursing at James Madison University.

The Phi Mu Gamma Theta Chapter Scrapbooks, 1958-1984, comprise 23 scrapbooks created by Phi Mu members that document the activities of the women's fraternity and include photographs with captions and printed ephemera.

The Robert James Sullivan Jr. Papers consist of professional and personal records and reports, and document Sullivan's time as City Planner of Harrisonburg from 1965-1991, his career in the Political Science Department at James Madison University, and work as the “unofficial historian” of Harrisonburg. Materials include city planning reports, newspaper articles, photographs, scrapbooks, and maps.

The Ronald E. Carrier Papers comprise the administrative records of James Madison University's fourth president.

The School of Music Scrapbooks, 1915-1999 (bulk 1969-1999), consist of 18 scrapbooks and loose ephemera. These scrapbooks predominantly chronicle the events of the Madison College Chorale between 1969 and 1997 under the direction of David A. Watkins, with other scrapbooks including one for the Women’s Concert Choir under the direction of Sally M. Lance and another for the Madison College Glee Club under the direction of Edna T. Shaeffer.

The Shuler Family Papers, 1893-1930, are comprised of one scrapbook of recipes and home remedies, three ledgers, and one State Normal School course notebook created by the Shuler family of Port Republic, Virginia.

The Stratford Players Records is comprised of record books, scrapbooks, correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings, rehearsal scripts, programs and playbills, and copies of yearbook pages, documenting the activities of the Stratford Players (formerly known as the Stratford Literary Society and the Stratford Dramatic Club), from 1914-1983.

The Tresa F. Quarles Papers, 1952-2008, comprise two scrapbooks containing captioned photographs, correspondence, and ephemera documenting Quarles' time as a student at Madison College and as an alumni. The collection also includes loose photographs, newspaper clippings, a selection of Quarles's report cards from Madison College, and her class beanie. Also included are six typed reminiscences written by Quarles in which she recalls highlights from her time at Madison College.

The V. Inez Graybeal Roop Papers, 1913-2005, a collection of a notable Harrisonburg Teacher’s College (now James Madison University) alumna, contains James Madison University related correspondence, speeches, news clippings, photographs, scrapbooks, and reunion programs, as well as Roop and Graybeal family history.
