Not requestable
Scope and Content
The Mary Moran Collier Collection of Harrisonburg Postcards, circa 1909-1977, comprises 39 black-and-white and color postcards and one copy of the pamphlet "State Teachers College, Harrisonburg, Virginia" documenting the historic campus of James Madison University (under its previous names) and the surrounding city of Harrisonburg.
A portion of the postcards are blank while some have been addressed and sent. It does not seem as if the donor had a personal connection to the recipients or senders of these postcards.
Postcards documenting the historic James Madison University campus depict specific buildings, general campus views, and aerial views. Postcards documenting the surrounding city of Harrisonburg include, among others, a flock of turkeys, Rockingham County Court House, Rockingham Memorial Hospital, and Harrisonburg High School.

Abstract
The Mary Moran Collier Collection of Harrisonburg Postcards, circa 1909-1977, comprises 39 postcards and one copy of the pamphlet "State Teachers College, Harrisonburg, Virginia" documenting the historic campus of James Madison University (under its previous names) and the surrounding city of Harrisonburg.
Arrangement
The postcards are arranged in the same order in which they were received by the donor - chronologically by iteration of the institution's name with general Harrisonburg postcards last. Postcards depicting the State Normal and Industrial School for Women at Harrisonburg (1909-1914) and the State Normal School for Women at Harrisonburg (1914-1924) are filed together. Postcards of the former Harrisonburg High School (now Memorial Hall) and Rockingham Memorial Hospital (now Student Success Center) are filed with the Harrisonburg postcards.
Acquisition Information
The postcards were donated by Mary Moran Collier in April 2019.
Processing Information
When donated, the postcards were housed in a photo album. They were removed from the album and placed in archival folders.
