Scope and Content

The Black Student Alliance Scrapbook is comprised of photographs, event flyers and a newsletter documenting Black Student Alliance activities during the 1994-1995 school year. The scrapbook contains photographs of individual members of the BSA, as well as events, including Homecoming weekend activities, Dress Up Day, Spirit Link Display in the Union, North East Groovers GOGO Band dance, BSA 25th Anniversary celebration, Alumni Reception in Godwin Hall, Sigma Gamma Rho probate, National Black Student Leadership Conference, Black Student Alliance Week events, and MLK Day candle lighting ceremony.

The Black Student Alliance Highlights newsletter contains articles such as, “The Absence of African-American Faculty,” “What’s happening in the NAACP,” and book and movie reviews.

Bio/Historical Note

The Black Student Alliance was founded in 1969. During the 1994-1995 school year David Ginn served as President, with Francis Johnson and Latoya Ingram as First and Second Vice President. The BSA office was located on the second floor of Taylor Hall.
